Everything you need to know to get the most out of From Dust to Rust ZA
There are three ways to connect:
F1 in Rust to open the console, then type: client.connect 156.38.153.242:10010156.38.153.242:10010When you first join From Dust to Rust ZA you automatically receive:
Type /shop to open the shop and spend your starting coins!
Press F1 in game to open the console and type:
bind b backpack
This binds the B key to open your backpack. You can use any key you like — just replace b with your preferred key. This binding saves permanently on your PC.
There are several ways to earn coins on the server:
/refer yournameType /shop in chat to open the shop UI. You'll see 4 categories:
Click a category on the left sidebar to switch between them. Green "Buy" buttons mean you can afford the item. Your coin balance shows in the top right corner.
Type /balance in chat to see your current coin balance. You can also see it in the top right corner when the shop is open.
Type /shop and navigate to the Tools category. The Recycler costs 800 coins. When you buy it, it's added directly to your inventory and you can place it anywhere in your base.
Alternatively, you can craft one yourself using /recycler.craft — this uses scrap, metal fragments, HQ metal and gears instead of coins.
Stand where you want your home to be (ideally on a foundation in your base) and type:
/sethome mybase
Replace mybase with any name you like. You can set multiple homes. To teleport back type:
/home mybase
To see all your homes: /home list
To remove a home: /home remove mybase
Send a teleport request to another player:
/tpr PlayerName
The other player then types /tpa to accept. If they don't respond in time the request expires. To cancel a pending request type /tpc.
Simply type in chat:
/outpost — Teleport to the Outpost safe zone/bandit — Teleport to Bandit CampThere is a cooldown between teleports. Type /tpinfo to see your current limits and cooldowns.
Type /remove in chat, then look at the structure you want to remove and left click. The structure will be removed and materials returned to you.
You can also use a hammer normally in the building menu to demolish within the 10-minute placement window.
Yes! The Structure Refund plugin gives you back the materials from the previous tier when you upgrade a structure. So upgrading from wood to stone gives you your wood back. This applies to all tiers and materials.
Type /tree in chat to open the Tree Planter menu. You'll see all available tree types and their costs in scrap.
Or type /tree american-beech-a to buy and immediately plant a specific tree type at your feet.
Trees cost 5-15 scrap each. Once planted they grow over time and can be chopped down by you or your team members for wood.
Type /balloon to spawn a hot air balloon at your position. A control HUD will appear on screen with speed controls and direction buttons.
/noballoon to remove itTwo players can ride together — the horse seat plugin also works on the balloon!
Get in your minicopter and type one of these commands:
/trail fire — Fire trail/trail firework — Firework trail/trail pink — Pink trailType /trail to toggle the trail on or off. You can also set 1-3 trails using /trail 2 for double trails.
During night time, type /voteday to cast your vote to skip the night. When enough players vote (30% of online players), the time will jump to morning automatically.
Admins can force skip night anytime using /nightvote.
Use /me action in chat to express yourself in third person. Examples:
/me waves at everyone → PlayerName waves at everyone/me slaps Bennie with a wet fish → PlayerName slaps Bennie with a wet fishYou can also use emoticons in normal chat and they'll convert automatically:
:) → smiles:D → grinso/ → waves:P → sticks out a tongueThe Chute plugin lets you parachute safely from heights:
/chute — Attach a parachute while in the air and float down/chuteup — Teleport up high and parachute back downUse W/A/S/D to steer while gliding. Press Jump once to release the safety, then again to cut the chute and free fall. There is a cooldown between uses.
Type /skin or /skins in chat. A container box will open — drop the item you want to reskin into it, then use the arrow buttons to browse available skins. Move the item back to your inventory when done.
Note: Only skins that have been added to the server config are available. Ask an admin to add specific skins.
Simply drop seeds from your inventory onto the ground! The Plant Drop plugin automatically plants them on whatever surface they land on. They'll grow normally from there — no planter box needed.
Type /kit in chat to open the kit menu. You'll see all available kits as a grid of icons.
You can also type /kit kitname to claim a specific kit directly.
Type /kit autokit to toggle whether you automatically receive a kit when you respawn after dying.
The Blueprint Share plugin automatically shares blueprints with your team and friends when anyone learns one:
/bs toggle — Toggle sharing on or off/bs share PlayerName — Manually share all your blueprints with a specific player/bs show team — See all blueprints shared with you from your teamWhen you unlock a blueprint via research or the tech tree, everyone in your team gets it automatically!
Yes! The Upgrade Workbenches plugin lets you upgrade your workbench to the next tier just like upgrading a building piece — no need to pick it up and replace it. Just look at it with a hammer and select the upgrade option.
The Automatic Authorization plugin automatically adds your team members, friends and clan mates to your TC, turrets and locks. Type /autoauth to see current settings or /autoauthui to open the full UI.
/autoauth team cupboard — Share TC with team/autoauth team turret — Share turrets with team/autoauth team codelock door — Share door code locks with teamYes! The Auto Turret Authorization plugin syncs your TC auth list with all auto-turrets in range. When you authorize a player on your TC, they are automatically added to all nearby turrets too.
Yes! The Team Offline Doors plugin automatically closes all your doors and hides your stashes when you (or the last member of your team) goes offline. This is automatic — no command needed.
Yes! The Sleeper Guard plugin protects sleeping (offline) players from being damaged or looted by other players. You can log off anywhere on the map and wake up exactly as you left.
Type /fuelalarm to toggle the fuel alarm on or off. When enabled, you'll hear an alert sound when your vehicle's fuel drops below 20%. Works with all vehicles — minicopters, boats, cars and more.
The Frame Box plugin lets you attach a photo frame to any storage box to label it with a custom image. Type /fb add while looking at a box to attach a frame, and /fb remove to remove it.
Look at any unowned vehicle and type /vclaim in chat. The vehicle is now yours permanently and will never decay regardless of where you leave it.
/vunclaim while looking at itEven without claiming, any vehicle you have used recently is automatically protected from decay for 7 days!
Hold a code lock in your hand and look at your vehicle — deploy it just like you would on a door. Or type /vcodelock (also /vlock) while looking at your vehicle.
For key locks, hold a key lock and deploy it the same way, or type /vkeylock.
Note: Deploying a lock onto an unowned vehicle will automatically claim it to you!
Yes — interact with the lock on the vehicle while it is unlocked and you can pick it up and get it back in your inventory, just like removing a lock from a door.
No! SAM sites on From Dust to Rust ZA are configured to completely ignore players. You can fly your minicopter, hot air balloon or scrap heli anywhere on the map without being shot down.
SAM sites will still engage the patrol helicopter event since that is an NPC, not a player.
Currently there is one PvP zone on the server:
You will see a visible dome around the zone boundary and receive an enter/leave message when crossing it. More PvP zones may be added in future!
Inside a PvP zone TruePVE protection is lifted and players can damage each other freely. This is fully opt-in — if you don't want PvP simply don't enter the zone.
When an airdrop lands a marker automatically appears on the in-game map:
You will also get a chat message telling you which grid square the drop landed in and how far away it is from you. Open your map (G key) to see the marker!
Timed airdrops happen randomly between every 30 and 60 minutes as long as at least 1 player is online. You will get a chat notification with the grid area when one is incoming.
You can also throw your own supply signal to call a personal drop. Supply signal drops are locked to you — other players cannot loot them!
